I am currently employed by Special-Learning as their Sr. Graphic Designer. My main job is to design the layout and cover designs of a series of ebooks about autism that will be going out to the public soon. This is the first ebook - The ABCs of Autism.
Special-Learning's logo is a group of interconnected puzzle pieces. The company's website employs a series of clouds and white-space to provide a calm atmosphere to parents with children of autism.
The concept for the book cover needed to feature that same spirit of calmness, as well as grab the readers' attention quickly and induce them to purchase the book. The use of the bright orange title on the blue sky background with puzzle-pieces as clouds ties all the company's imagery together in a peaceful manner and yet grabs the audience's attention. All of this is achived through a clean professional design.
The second ebook - ABA Overview. (Applied Behavior Analysis).
ABA is all about positive changes to behavior of children with autism. This cover needed to show action and remind the audience of the importance of ABA. The color red is echoed from the child's shirt but also signifies action. Red is a very strong active color. The large 'O' hints at the shape the child makes by pressing his finger against something as he is applying his behavior to something. The ABA text surrounding the 'O' also demonstrates action and movement.

24" by 36" Large suicide prevention poster meant to be seen and draw in viewers from a distance.
Based on the idea that animals don't commit suicide, why would you?. I want to make a whole series of these posters with different animals.

I was asked by Mike Gerhinger to design the book cover for his new book, "Extreme Missions: Experiencing the Supernatural Power of God."
The book is about the struggles of a young man and how he went from being a nonbeliever to coming to know God in a personal way.
The book cover shows how much Mike Gehringer was on fire for God and how he wanted to spread the gospel to the world. The design shows the world on fire through the Holy Spirit (represented by the flames and the dove). The outstretched hands represent the multitude of lives he has reached.
In college, I was part of a student Christian organization called the Navigators. I was asked to design a 60" by 24" banner to promote our group.
The theme is based on the idea that we are centered on Christ. Throughout the design I have emphasized this theme. We all know that a compass points north but here it is also directing us towards Christ. The activities on the left all incircle the word Christ.

I was asked by Emily, of Emily Chastain Photography, to design her business card and a unique advertising piece. Her tagline was simple.fresh.fun. and she wanted to portray that in the design.
Photos used on the design are copyright Emily Chastain. View all her amazing photographs on flickr.
Emily wanted a creative approach to advertise her photography business and leave customers with a handout they wouldn't just toss. The bookmark was a great idea for a functional way to constantly remind people of her work.
